Ha! I recognize this problem! Both in your essay to get into the program, and in my own eternal issue. Too wordy! However, I have been there/done that so often that I have come to realize how really nice it feels to reduce my writing. It is like cleaning a cupboard or closet. At first you think you "need it all", then bit by bit, because you MUST, you get rid of things...until you realize that you really enjoy the final product!
