My parents don't really celebrate national holidays. But our neighbors (also friends from church) invited us over and we shared a meal together, along with a few other guests.
It was a pretty typical evening. Except that, a year ago on this date, my dad fell ill and had to go to the hospital. It was nice to have a healthy Fourth of July.

ReplyDeleteYour mom and I make a pair. I'm still chuckling about how you weren't allowed to play lazer tag because it was violent. That is SO like something I'd have done. Have to say I've loosened up though...they got to me.
I was also just wishing that we had a yard big enough for a croquet set. I LOVED that when I was little. I don't believe we played by the rules, but we had our own and they worked fine.
Yes, you also seem rather non-conformist. ;)
