We have a "Russian Christmas" (or so we call it) celebration with my grown kids at New Years. We opened gifts earlier and had a nice meal. But, as we sat there feeling glazed and exhausted at 10 p.m., I pointed out that it was already way past midnight in Russia, and gladly we toasted one another with fake champagne and went to bed!
