C. and I and Sergei, who was ten at the time, and Zhen, who was 4 and tiny.....and we had to transport all of our luggage with us for some reason.....I guess because we'd come from Amsterdam. Anyway we're running through that airport, struggling with the luggage and the little guy. The escalators weren't working and there was a huge line at the elevator, so we're struggling up a sort of "help only" flight of stairs, near tears, out of breath, and then - standing at the top of the flight of stairs - was this tall, stately black man, in a bright uniform of some kind (I honestly don't recall if he was a pilot, or what - but a snazzy uniform) and he just TOOK OVER. It was like he could manage everything....the kids the luggage - and he knew exactly where we needed to be and who to talk to, and he took us to the front of the line. And then he disappeared. That was almost literal.... Suddenly he was gone as in "Who was that masked man?" C. and I both had the same thought.....was he an angel? I remember him that way. [I wish you'd run into one!]Annie Kitchinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11638369332689401184noreply@blogger.com
